Fil Tee-Shirt ou Fil Trapilho

T-shirt yarn or Trapillo yarn

In my last article, I told you about my quest for the perfect yarn ball.
Today, we're getting to the heart of the matter: t-shirt yarn or trapilho yarn... what's the real difference? đŸ§¶

When you start crocheting, you often hear these two terms.
At first, I confess that for me... they were pretty much the same thing.
And yet, with time and some testing, I discovered that there are real differences.

- T-shirt yarn

T-shirt yarn can be made from fabric rolls or scraps, depending on the supplier.
It is generally soft, smooth, and pleasant to crochet, with consistent thickness and no knots.
The colors often remain true over time, making it easier to find the same shades for your projects.

- Trapilho yarn

Trapilho yarn, on the other hand, is always made from fabric scraps.
Highly valued for its recycled aspect, it can however show variations in thickness and sometimes knots.
The colors are often offered in limited series, so it's difficult to find exactly the same batch.
It's a thicker yarn, often denser, with a "heavier" and very structured finish.

So, which one to choose?

Over time, I've learned one essential thing: the quality of the yarn depends enormously on the supplier!
A t-shirt yarn can be incredible... or completely disappointing.
The same goes for trapilho.

So I can't say I prefer one over the other. It all depends on the desired result, the project, and especially the quality of the yarn used.

Today, for MaisonSoléia, I prioritize materials that offer a beautiful finish, good durability, and lasting quality, to offer you creations that are both pretty and pleasant to use everyday.
And this quality, I found in a carefully selected t-shirt yarn đŸ€
